Julie

Veterinary Assistant

How long have you been working in veterinary medicine?

Hi, I'm Julie, one of the assistants here at Catawba Heights Animal Hospital. I've been an assistant for about five years in total. I've been working at Catawba Heights since October 2022, so a little over two and a half years now.

What are your responsibilities as a veterinary assistant?

My job involves a variety of tasks, including assisting the technicians and doctors with whatever they need. I help with surgeries, setting up for procedures, assisting in exam rooms, restraining pets, filling medications, and preparing vaccines.

What do you love most about your job?

It's hard to pick just one favorite thing because I enjoy everything I do here. But if I had to choose, I'd say the best part is the relationships we build with our clients and patients. We have a great clientele, and I love making people smile throughout the day. I’m a big jokester and like to lighten the mood for everyone.

Tell us about your pets!

I have a German Shepherd named Bucky, named after Bucky Barnes from the Marvel movies. I also have three chickens—Jamal, my rooster, and two hens, Petunia and Red. I used to have a cat, but unfortunately, he passed away. I'm sure I'll add more animals to my collection over time!

If you want to know more about me, feel free to ask! I'm easy to get along with and always happy to chat.
